What care is available in Bluffdale?

The right starting point depends on your needs, your safety, and the time you can spend in care. Admissions can help you talk through the options.

Residential treatment

Residential care means living at the treatment center while you receive support. Our Bluffdale residence has 12 beds, giving you time away from routines and pressures tied to drinking or drug use.

Partial hospitalization (PHP)

PHP offers structured care without an overnight stay at the center. Ask admissions how TRC’s current PHP schedule works and whether it fits your needs.

Intensive outpatient (IOP)

IOP is an outpatient option for people who need regular treatment but do not need to live at the center. Ask whether it is an appropriate starting point or a step after residential care.

The National Institute on Alcohol Abuse and Alcoholism says a full assessment helps determine the right level of alcohol treatment.

What if I need detox first?

TRC does not provide medical detox on site. If you need it, our team can work with partner providers to arrange placement within 24 hours, based on clinical fit and available space. Detox is a separate step from treatment at TRC.

If you are worried about withdrawal, tell admissions before making travel plans. Some withdrawal symptoms need medical attention.

Can I get help if I am still working?

Yes. You do not have to wait until you lose your job or reach a crisis. People can look steady from the outside while alcohol or drug use is taking more effort to hide or control.

Residential treatment means staying at the center, so you may need time away from work. PHP and IOP do not include an overnight stay. A clinical assessment should guide the choice.

How do insurance and payment work?

We work with UnitedHealthcare, University of Utah Health Plans (U Health), UMR, Blue Cross Blue Shield, Aetna, Molina, Cigna, and TriWest Healthcare Alliance. Coverage depends on your plan, benefits, and the care you need. Some people use a mix of insurance and private payment. We can review your benefits and explain expected costs before admission. TRC does not accept Medicaid.

Have your insurance card ready when you call, if you can.

A Utah perspective

SAMHSA estimated that an annual average of 339,000 Utah adults had a substance use disorder in 2023–2024. This is a population estimate, not a count of people who sought treatment or a prediction about any one person’s recovery. Source: SAMHSA Utah state tables, Table 99B.
